NR257 Working with Municipal Government Agencies

Revitalization requires a wide range of partners working together—residents, neighborhood associations, property owners, community development organizations, nonprofits, businesses, and municipal government agencies. Effectively blending their work and satisfying their interests presents real challenges. This class focuses on understanding challenges from the municipal government side: communication across agencies and departments, competing and contradictory priorities, turf wars, and politics. You'll explore how to contribute to building a collaborative environment among the multiple municipal and local government agencies involved in revitalization, even from the outside. Through discussion of best practices from across the country and real-life scenarios, you'll develop strategies for effective government engagement.
