NR118 Working with Tenants and Small Landlords to Revitalize the Neighborhood

At least one in three residences in the average neighborhood are occupied by renters. To successfully sustain or create a healthy neighborhood, revitalization strategies must pay close attention to rental housing. Explore a variety of complementary strategies to ensure a strong rental market and well-kept rental housing stock that contributes positively to neighborhood livability. Discover how to work with landlords, especially small investors, to build their capacity to manage property successfully, plan and finance physical improvements, and partner with tenants. Examine strategies that help tenants become engaged neighborhood stakeholders, empowering them to utilize enforcement mechanisms when necessary to ensure a healthy and safe housing environment.
